Kimberley: a practical guide to planning a remote journey
The Kimberley covers vast distances and conditions can shape every part of a trip. Plan fewer places well, allow extra time and treat official updates as part of the itinerary.
Match plans to place and season
Choose a manageable route, confirm local access before departure and carry the preparation needed for remote travel. Australias North West Kimberley guide (opens in a new tab) and Explore Parks WA Kimberley information (opens in a new tab) provide current regional context.
Respect Country and protected places
The Kimberley includes many places with deep cultural and conservation values. Follow directions, use official safety advice and let local conditions determine whether a plan is suitable. Purnululu National Park information (opens in a new tab) provides a protected-area reference.
